Chai launches ‘Too young for cancer… but not too young for Chai’ Pesach Appeal

Today, Chai is supporting more than 4,300 cancer patients and their loved ones, providing our Big C of Care at every stage of the cancer journey.

In the last ten years, the number of young people supported by Chai has risen by more than 200% – individuals and young families who should be planning their futures, but instead find themselves navigating the impact of a cancer diagnosis.

Chai’s support helps them change their perception of what it means to be young and have cancer, enabling them to regain strength and control as they move forward.

This year’s Pesach appeal features a personal account from Chai client, Zoe Sayliss, who was diagnosed ovarian cancer in 2024 at just 27 years old.

“You never imagine being diagnosed with ovarian cancer at 27.

Within weeks, I’d undergone a full hysterectomy and was suddenly facing early menopause. It felt like my whole world had completely changed.

I’d driven past Chai countless times, but never imagined I might need their support so young.

I was hesitant to enter an environment that I expected would be full of illness and sadness.

But the reality was the opposite.

Walking through the doors of Chai helped me regain a sense of control over what was happening to me.

I didn’t choose to have cancer, but I could choose to seek the support I needed.
