More than 70 runners, many of whom have had personal experience of Chai’s support, eagerly took part in the Maccabi GB Community Fun Run on Sunday 26th June. The event, which has raised more than £10,000 (and counting!) so far for Chai, was a huge success once again.
Energetic and committed Chai participants ranging in age from 6 years old to 80, dusted off their running shoes to take part in the 10K, 5K and1K distances.
Chai Fun Run veterans and father and son duo Phil & Daniel Singer took part in the 5k run and said: “We chose Chai as we were running in memory of our Mum/Grandma who passed away from cancer in 1998 and wanted to raise money to help Chai support those using their services now.”
First time Chai runners Jonathan & Caroline Holman took on the 10k event and following the event, Jonathan said: “It was our pleasure to support Chai Cancer Care. My closest friend died of pancreatic cancer a month ago and his family are receiving incredible bereavement support from your organisation. Additionally, a close friend is having treatment for cancer and is finding the therapy sessions at Chai a fantastic boost to their overall wellbeing. Finally, my Mum has just finished Radiotherapy for Stage 1 Lung Cancer. Whilst I am yet to use your services, the fact that you are available offering all sorts of different help and guidance is in itself a great sense of comfort to me.”
