Joshua Kay’s 24 Hour Learning Course raised £1,100 for Chai

Joshua Kay, a Chai client, completed a 24 hour learning course in memory of his grandma and raised more than £1,100 for Chai.

Read his story in his own words below:

“My grandma passed away a few weeks ago and at the shiva house someone said how important it is to do thinks to help elevate the neshama (soul) of someone who has died. So I decided that for 24 hours I would learn back in yeshiva by myself and with others for the memory of my grandma.

The first 12 hours were very easy and lots of people had signed up to learn with me and kept me going. It became more difficult from midnight to 4am and the last few hours were also very hard so I decided to change my venue from inside the yeshiva study hall to being outside and learning whilst the sun rose.

I chose to raise money whilst learning for Chai Cancer Care because last year my grandma was diagnosed with cancer and I know that Chai do amazing work to help people and they need appreciating more and this was a way for me to help Chai and be thinking of my Grandma as well.”
