Spirits are high as Chai’s Whisky Tasting raised more than £30,000

On Thursday 11^th May, 130 whisky enthusiasts filled the Grand Gallery at The Belgravia for an exclusive evening of whisky tasting.

The event, hosted by Danny Davilla, Elli Morris, Naomi Nevies and Adam Savitz, raised more than £30,000 for Chai’s vital services.

On arrival, guests were welcomed with a drinks and canapes reception before being treated to 5 fine and unusual whiskies to taste. The tasting, presented by Whisky expert, Colin Hampden-White, member of the Worshipful Company of Distillers and Keeper of the Quaich, was accompanied by Ben Tenenblat’s delicious food.

Chai’s Chairman, Louise Hager, welcomed guests and spoke passionately about the ever-increasing need for Chai’s services. She said: “We are all here to support Chai, an organisation I am privileged to see the impact we have each day.

And whilst we can all still focus, I want to give some headline numbers.

As of 5:50pm this evening we are supporting 3970 clients from 3 years old to 97 from 11 centres all over the UK, from Glasgow to South London and via Zoom and our Home Support Service.

Sadly, we know that the need is only going to increase and we are dedicated and determined to meet the need.”

After dinner there was an auction led by Mark Wagner, with prizes generously donated by Glenmorangie, Macallan, Bruichladdich and the William Grant Foundation.

Following the event, Senior Fundraising Manager, Ian Kamiel, said: “The evening was the perfect blend of great whisky and fundraising for Chai, everyone is already looking forward to the next one!”
