Climbing a mountain is out of most people’s comfort zones but Chai supporter Simon Midgen took it in his stride! On the 17th July, Simon and a group led by PJS challenges took on the Lemosho route.
During their 9-day hike, the group embarked through five different climate zones before scaling Uhuru Peak – the highest peak in Africa and Kilimanjaro’s summit at 19,340 feet.
Following the challenge, Simon said: “when I set out to climb Kilimanjaro, it was just a crazy idea that I wanted to complete at some point in my life. Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Having suffered from cancer 4 years ago, reaching the summit was an exciting an exhausting experience!”
To date, Simon has raised an incredible £6,130 towards Chai’s vital services.
